Monday

March 30, 2026

Thursday thoughts on a Monday.  Maybe I should come up with a name for everyday of the week and just write whenever: Monday Musings, Tuesday Topics, Sunday Summations, and so on.

It's been an interesting few weeks and another interesting one coming up. Thursday I am scheduled for the surgical colonoscopy (what I'm calling it) to remove a large polyp or two. I had to have an EKG (anybody over 60) and it was nice to know they approved my heart for the procedure. Today I have to get a general clearance from a PCP.  You would think with all of the procedures I've had over the past 15 months they could just considered me good to go.  Nope, check all of the boxes first.  Prep day for the procedure is always a challenge, both in the fasting aspect and then the prep procedure.  Thankfully I was invited to play golf Wednesday morning/afternoon so that will keep me busy.  Just have to remember to stay well hydrated.

The other interesting medical issue of the week was with my urologist.  Had an appointment with him last week but when I got there, they didn't have me on his schedule.  Somebody forgot to write me in.  No problem, just reschedule for later, but he decided that he wants to have me do a CT scan before. Oh good, another scan to find something else wrong with me : )  I passed a kidney stone recently and I'm sure he just wants to double check that I passed the one we were monitoring and I don't have any others waiting for their turn. I will then have another CT scan in June for Dr. Tran.  I'm getting to know this procedure very well.

Cathy and I enjoyed a great weekend. Saturday our church, Compass Bible Church Huntington Beach, sponsored a "Bunny Run." The Saturday before Palm Sunday the church takes over a large section of Central Park in HB and has a 5K for all interested parties. Over 5-600 people participated in the run/walk and another 1-200 ringed the course as encouragers. After the 5K there was an Easter Egg hunt for all of the children, and 1000 people were served breakfast. Just a great day of fun and fellowship. We love that our church does so many wonderful activities to bring people together, but we love even more that it always comes back to Biblically based expository teaching. Bible explaining the Bible and an upfront, no holding back, Gospel message. We are looking forward to the services this week: Maundy Thursday communion service, Good Friday, and then Easter Sunday. With my procedure on Thursday, not sure I'm making service that night, but hopefully Friday, and definitely Sunday.

Luke 24:2-7... And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

I love Christmas, but Easter is the best day of the year. He is Risen!!! The greatest mic drop moment in the history of the world.

If I have anything to report after Thursday I'll post again, but if I don't, have a wonderful Easter and don't ever forget what the Lord has done to redeem His people.

Ephesians 1:7... In Him we have redemption though His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.

Romans 3:24... And all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Titus 2:14... Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that hare His very own, eager to do what is good.
